Data Architect
Salary: Circa 80k
Working arrangement: flexible, travel to Durham once or twice a week, remaining WFH
Overview
We are supporting a large, values-driven organisation to recruit a Data Architect. This is a senior role responsible for shaping and delivering enterprise data strategy across a complex technology environment.
You will act as the technical authority for data and AI, ensuring data is secure, high quality and effectively used to support business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and deliver data strategy aligned to organisational goals
- Design enterprise data architectures including data warehouses, lakes and modern approaches such as data fabric or mesh
- Lead data modelling, integration and optimisation of data flows
- Establish and enforce data governance, standards and best practice
- Oversee ETL and ELT pipelines and data integration across cloud and on-premise platforms
- Provide technical leadership and mentor data teams
- Engage senior stakeholders and translate business needs into data solutions
- Support AI initiatives by ensuring reliable and well-governed data
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Proven experience delivering enterprise-level data architecture
- Strong SQL and experience with Python or Java
- Experience with ETL or ELT tools such as Airflow, Talend or Informatica
- Experience with data warehouses and data lakes
- Strong data modelling and data governance experience
- Experience with APIs and data integration
Desirable
- Cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP
- Exposure to AI or machine learning
- Knowledge of big data technologies
